Dr. Blair Feltmate, Associate Professor and Program Director, Sustainable Practice, Waterloo University, and Chair, Climate Change Adaptation Project Canada

Extreme weather due to climate change in recent years has included floods, hurricanes, ice storms and other events with an intensity and frequency that has not been predicted or anticipated by most engineering and infrastructure design guidelines. The resultant damage has resulted in enormous financial and economic losses, gaps in engineering guidlines and infrastructure planning, and actuaries scrambling to figure out how to create new models that will adequately contemplate and analyze associated risk for insurance, mortgage and other financial planning concerns. This session will be of interest to many in the finance, insurance, mortgage, infrastructure, real estate and construction industries.
