Energy Storage: Selection and Deployment Strategy

From flywheels to huge hydro projects energy storage has been identified by previous Mindfirst seminar participants as the topic they want to cover most. The implications for Ontario’s energy future are significant. Storage would allow us to use excess off-peak energy during the hottest summer days. Storage would allow increased use of renewable energy where grid constraints currently prevent integration. Storage could support remote communities providing cleaner solutions than current fossil fuel based practices. What will these solutions cost? Which technologies are ready and available for deployment now? What models will be used in the decision making process? What are the barriers to implementation? What solutions are on the horizon? This seminar should be of interest to many stakeholders, energy industry executives, policy makers, entrepreneurs and academics.

The seminar features four (4) presenters each making introductory remarks of eight (8) minutes or less. The introductory remarks are followed by 45 minutes of moderated discussion and Q&A with audience members. Based on participant survey response requests we have added additional networking time before and after the formal presentation and discussion periods.
