Mindfirst has a mission to create an unbiased objective platform for the discussion of important global energy issues. Activities take the form of seminars and conferences including Mindfirst Energy Seminar Series, Future of Nuclear, PipeThink, Sustainability Series and others that are evolving and under development on an ongoing basis. Innovative ideas, awareness and youth engagement are encouraged through major social media channels. Project initiatives are informed and guided by extensive research and surveys of event participants and input of various advisory councils.

Special projects are undertaken with industry partners and organizations participating in Mindfirst events. In 2016 World Bank will publish research compiled for the Readiness for Investment in Sustainable Energy (RISE) program which gathered research regarding 110 global jurisdiction. Mindfirst contributed Canadian research to this World Bank project. Another example of collaboration is the Energy Seminar Series developed in conjunction with Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE). Mindfirst has participated in commercial initiatives such as the assembly of a team that recently developed more than 30 MW of solar ground mount solar projects.

Mindfirst Inc. (M1) was founded in 1999 to provide strategic planning services for growing businesses. Some of the events that Mindfirst has developed are the CleanTech North Awards and annual event, the National Angel Capital Organization Annual (NACO) Angel Investor Summit, and on a pro-bono basis Mindfirst created the CHIN UP Fund, the Excellence in Nerve Research Awards and Annual Golf Event for the Hospital for Sick Children.

 

Henry Vehovec – President

 

HenryVehovec2015Henry Vehovec organizes the Mindfirst Energy Seminar Series with a mission to provide an unbiased, objective platform for the discussion and advancement of leading ideas around global energy issues. He is Chair of Mindfirst Global Energy and Sustainability Advisory Council and teaches the Masters level course APS 510 – Innovative Technologies and Organizations in Global Energy Systems at University of Toronto’s Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, Centre for Global Engineering. Most recently he has led the Canadian research for World Bank’s Readiness for Investment in Sustainable Energy (RISE) project. The RISE report compares sustainability initiatives in 110 jurisdictions globally and will be published in 2016. Mr. Vehovec has been a partner in several renewable energy projects including a team that developed 30 MW solar under Ontario’s FIT program.

Henry Vehovec served fourteen years as a founding member of Sustainable Development Technology Canada‘s (SDTC) Investment Committee. During his time with SDTC the $1.1 billion fund committed more than $640 million to 268 sustainability and clean technology projects. Mr. Vehovec is formerly Executive Director of CleanTech North, a consortium helping to commercialize Canadian cleantech solutions internationally. In this role he established the CleanTech North Awards given annually to Canada`s most promising cleantech companies. Mr. Vehovec is active in numerous volunteer, community and philanthropic efforts. He is the Founder and Chair Emeritus of National Angel Capital Organization (NACO). He is the Founder and Chair of CHIN UP Fund supporting injured nerve and regenerative medical research at Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children.

Mr. Vehovec holds an engineering degree from the University of Toronto, an MBA from Western University’s Richard Ivey School of Business, has completed the Owner/President Management (OPM) Program at the Harvard Business School and received ICD.D certification from the Rotman School of Management’s Institute of Corporate Directors Corporate Governance College.
