Noank Media Inc. successfully demonstrated their proprietary digital media exchange platform at meetings in Beijing and Hong Kong in late 2007 and early 2008. The platform was developed as a solution to the world’s illegal P2P file sharing problems. Conceived originally by Prof. Terry Fisher of Harvard Law School’s Berkman Center for Internet and Society, the model was enhanced and made real by development teams under the direction of Paul Hoffert and Eric Priest. Mindfirst Inc. coordinated angel capital and seed round financing while assuming interim operating and finance roles during start-up.

Programming efforts led by Noank’s Chief Technology Officer, Devon Copley, combined input from several specialist North American teams as well as leading intellectual property and technology thinkers from Tsinghua University’s Institute for Internet Behavior, China Education and Research Network (CERNET) and the Oxford Internet Institute. During the three year development initiative numerous patents have been filed. The Noank algorithms, process and patents point the way to a universe that will allow P2P file sharing of intellectual property while compensating the creators and owners of the content. Essentially, the systems created will inoculate users against prosecution by allocating a portion of system fees to copyright owners.

Many content providers are enthused about Noank’s potential to generate revenues from user jurisdictions where pirated content is the norm and legal revenue is scant. Noank has a growing catalogue of digital educational and entertainment content that is available for deployment over various digital channels. Stay tuned to this blog for ongoing developments.
